Irrigation lines tend to get plugged with calcium carbonate, salts, biofilm, and roots. The most common program for cleaning lines is to run sulfuric acid and chlorine, flushing the lines between each application. This approach is costly, dangerous to the environment as well as human health, corrodes equipment, and the chlorine results in poor soil and plant health.
Growers over the years have reported that EM-1® can be used to clean their lines. By using it through the irrigation to foliar feed crops, it keeps them clean. One such farm reduced their line pressure from 24 psi to 9 psi.
